21st Birthday Party Decoration

By Adwina Jackson

Birthday parties are exciting for children, but can be equally exciting and meaningful for parents.

Birthdays hold special meaning for children because they are the one day the world is focused on them and their contributions to the world.

Planning a birthday party is sometimes a challenging task, but not when you have the right mindset and tools handy!

If you are wondering what you can do to make your next birthday party something to be remembered, consider the following:

Throw a Theme Based Birthday Party – Rather than have a run of the mill party, consider throwing a themed based party where guests dress up as their favorite cartoon character or something of that nature. Consider getting decorations and invitations that match the theme. You can even invest in a couple of movies for children to watch that revolve around the character or theme of the party. Most children will love this type of party and talk about it for weeks on end. Popular themes include:

- Survivor parties
- Firefighter parties
- Wild West Parties
- Hawaiian Parties
- Race Car
- Pirates
- Magic Parties

Hold a Scavenger Hunt Party – Consider planting several items that reflect something about your child around your house/yard. When guests arrive provide them with a scavenger list and have them locate all of the items. Once they are found, share with guests a story about the item and how it relates to your child.

Don’t forget to reward children for successfully finding objects!

Build a Memory Book Party – Have guests come equipped with special memories, photos and other paraphernalia they shared with your child. Have lots of scrapbooking materials handy and have guests help you create a memory book for your child on their party. If you can invest in a Polaroid camera and have instant photos taken of your child with others during the party to include in your memory book.

There are many things you can do to make a birthday party not just a party, but a meaningful and special event for you and your family.

No matter what you decide, don’t forget some party essential items, including cake, balloons, plenty of games and refreshments for grown up participants as well!
